Our Mission

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to helping impoverished people in developing nations. We focus on providing resources that allow children to improve themselves mentally, physically, and spiritually.

The Least Among Us helps communities, families, and individuals improve their life through education.  We do this through assisting with capital projects and high school scholarships.  The Least Among Us has focused on poor communities in El Salvador who are willing to match our assistance with meaningful non-financial contributions and demonstrate that they will use new resources responsibly.

Capital Projects include building classrooms, bathrooms, drinking-water infrastructure, and providing limited assistance for necessary educational supplies at Catholic schools.  The Least Among Us provides "seed" money for building supplies, and the parents of the students provide volunteer construction labor.  Volunteer labor from parents and community members instills a sense of ownership and stretches each donor's dollar tremendously.  Once a classroom is built, the Salvadoran government and the local Catholic dioceses pays teacher salaries and electricity.   The cooperative partnership of The Least Among Us, the Salvadoran Government, the Catholic Church, and local communities has proven to be an extremely effective way to make a positive and permanent impact on rural villages.

High School Scholarships are awarded to a few top students in the schools that we help.  Scholarships are awarded on the basis of need, character, and acadmic performance.  They are only awarded to students who would not otherwise be able to attend secondary school.  Stipends, which cost between $500 and $1000 per student-year, are administered on a weekly basis to cover the cost of tuition, bus tickets, lunch, and books.
